HTML Viewer & Editor — Complete Guide

An HTML viewer shows you what a piece of HTML looks like when a browser renders it. Instead of saving a file and opening it, you paste the code (or open the file) and the preview appears instantly next to it. Because the preview updates as you type, it also works as a quick online HTML editor for testing snippets, email templates, landing page sections or homework exercises.

⚡ Live Preview

The preview refreshes as you type, so you see every change immediately. Turn it off for large pages and press Run instead.

📱 Device Sizes

Switch between desktop, tablet (768px) and mobile (375px) widths to check that your layout is responsive.

📂 Open HTML Files

Open any .html or .htm file from your computer to view it, edit it and download the result.

🔒 Private & Sandboxed

Your code never leaves your device, and scripts run inside a secure sandbox that can't access this website or your data.

How to View HTML Online

  1. Add your HTML. Paste code into the editor, type it, or click Open file to load an .html file.
  2. Watch the preview. With Live preview on, the right-hand panel renders your page as you type. Otherwise press Run HTML or Ctrl+Enter.
  3. Check other screen sizes. Use the Desktop, Tablet and Mobile buttons to see how the page adapts.
  4. Save or share it. Download the edited file, copy the code, or open the preview in a full browser tab.

HTML, CSS and JavaScript Are All Supported

The viewer renders complete documents and fragments alike. You can include <style> blocks, inline styles and <script> tags, and they run just as they would in a normal page. External stylesheets, fonts and images also load, as long as they use full URLs starting with https://.

If images or CSS files are missing in the preview, the HTML is probably using relative paths such as images/logo.png. Those files live next to the original page on your computer or server, so the viewer can't find them. Replace them with full URLs to see them here.

Is It Safe to Run HTML Here?

Yes. The preview is a sandboxed frame: scripts inside your HTML can run, but they are isolated from this website, can't read its cookies or storage, and can't change the page around the preview. Nothing you type is uploaded or saved on a server, and the editor is cleared when you close the tab.

Clean Up and Check Your HTML

Once the page looks right, tidy messy indentation or shrink the file with the HTML Formatter & Minifier, and find unclosed tags or missing attributes with the HTML Validator.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I open an HTML file online?

Click Open file above the editor and choose an .html or .htm file. Its code appears in the editor and the rendered page appears in the preview. You can edit it and click Download to save your changes.

Is my HTML sent to a server?

No. The viewer runs entirely in your browser. Your code is never uploaded or stored, which makes it safe for private or unfinished work.

Does JavaScript work in the preview?

Yes. Scripts run inside a secure sandbox, so interactive elements, alerts and forms work while staying isolated from the rest of this website.

Why don't my images or stylesheets show?

They are probably linked with relative paths (for example css/style.css). Those files are not available to the viewer. Use full URLs beginning with https:// and they will load.

Can I use the HTML viewer on my phone?

Yes. The editor and preview stack vertically on small screens, and you can open the preview in a full tab to see it at your phone's real width.
